Frequently asked questions
How many 12 × 24 tiles do I need for 100 square feet?
55 tiles with a ⅛ in grout joint and 10 % extra for cuts, 57 for a diagonal or patterned layout with 15 % extra. Each 12 × 24 tile covers 2 ft².
How much extra tile should I buy?
10 to 15 %: 10 % for a straight layout, 15 % for diagonal, herringbone or other patterns with more cuts (Geon Tile).
How many 12 × 12 tiles for a 10 × 10 room?
108 tiles with a ⅛ in joint and 10 % extra. Without counting the joint it would be 110: each joint makes the tile's footprint a little bigger, so you need slightly fewer.
How do I work out the number of boxes?
Divide the tiles by the number of tiles per box printed on the carton and round up. 108 tiles at 10 per box: 11 boxes. Type the figure from your box in the calculator.
How do I calculate the square footage of a floor?
Length × width in feet. For an L-shaped room, split it into rectangles, add them with the square footage calculator, then type the total here as one rectangle.
